I. General Information  

Circuit Breakers are one of the critical "safety-valves" of electrical systems and basic maintenance procedures are essential to maintain maximum reliability.

According to the actual situation of the DC circuit breaker ampere-second characteristic test system, our company has introduced a DC circuit breaker ampere-second characteristic test system suitable for substation site use, easy to carry, and high degree of automation. It can provide DC protection for the operation and maintenance department. Characteristic testing methods are used to verify the action characteristics and level difference coordination of DC protection appliances, so as to improve the reliability of the DC system operation and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power grid.



II. Features
 
  1. 320*240 LCD screen, thermal printer, interactive keyboard operation, and intelligent operation system.
  2. Power electronics controlling technique has been adopted to output high current, which is high speed, high precision and continuous adjustability.
  3. Current range can be automatically switched by multiple high precision sensors.14-digit AD acquisition chip of high capacity.
  4. Automatic data storage. Be capable of saving 200 testing results, which will not lose in power failure.
  5. Optional for ampere-second characteristic test (action test) or through current characteristic test (non-action test).
  6. Protection functions for overheat, over-current and over voltage. Anti-interference capacity and good EMC (electromagnetic compatibility).

III. Main Functions

According to National Standard, the DC circuit breaker should be made trip test.

1. Time-current Characteristic Test

A. Power on the breaker with 1.13In current (non-tripping current) till to required time, the breaker should not trip. Then increase the current to 1.45In (tripping current) within 5 seconds, the breaker should trip within required time.

B. Power on each level of the breaker with 2.55In current, break time > 1 second.
Break time < 60seconds when rated current of circuit breaker ≤ 63A.
Break time < 120seconds when rated current of circuit breaker > 63A.

2. Instantaneous Tripping Test
 
  1. B type Circuit Breaker: Power on each level of circuit breaker with 3In current, break time should be more than 0.1s.

Power on each level of circuit breaker with 5In current, break time should be less than 0.1s.

B. C type Circuit Breaker: Power on each level of circuit breaker with 5In current, break time should be more than 0.1s.
Power on each level of circuit breaker with 10In current, break time should be less than 0.1s.

C. D type Circuit Breaker: Power on each level of circuit breaker with 10In current, break time should be more than 0.1s.
Power on each level of circuit breaker with 50In current, break time should be less than 0.1s.
These two tests should be meets the specifications of time-current characteristic table.
